FATE: When Dragons Fall
Synopsis - August 2026
Currently a work in progress^^
‘When dragons fall and magic and sword collide, the forgotten will revive and behold the rise of a forgotten age.’
An old prophecy that used to be a point of interest in Faritum. Now ‘when dragons fall’ holds the same weight as ‘when pigs fly.’ Very few think twice about it now, fewer still research it.
For Vyla, it’s constantly sitting at the back of her mind. It’s been ten years since her statue broke and generations since the fall of Creek Landing, her home. Her parents. All of it frozen in stone statues. She’d tried everything to block out the memories and reminders of her home. Pretending the visions were a bad dream. Going to the lengths of opening The Sunroom, a cozy tearoom and inn, to busy her mind. But sometimes fate just won’t let you leave it alone.
When two travelers stay at her inn she receives a new vision of them exploring the ruins of her home. Reluctantly she joins them traveling to the ruins and receives another vision of her parents when she finds their statues broken. Now with the possibility of helping her home, she picks up her travel kettle, tea mug, and her father’s circlet and sets out with the travelers. Whether or not this vision’s lead spells hope or dread for her forgotten home is a fate yet to unfold.

Fate: When Dragons Fall is a story of learning how to create a safe space within yourself when you have to leave the home you’ve built in order to face past scars and heal through the challenges fate will throw your way. I’ve thrown a lot of myself into Vyla’s character, especially in the form of my own anxiety and depression. With that I’d love and aim to make this a story that I could’ve used when I was first struggling with my mental health in the hopes it could help someone else.
